Fishermen on the beach at Coquette Point
Hi All,
The brilliant weather and a low tide at 1pm today was perfect for the local fishermen, they came out on the river and along the river enjoying the sun and the clean clear water that is now flowing in the Johnstone River. Bait boils could be clearly seen in the shallows and the men in the photo got a full bucket in a couple of throws of the cast net.

Shifting sand bars in Johnstone River
New sandbar formed off eastern end of Crocodile Rocks
The low tide .59, exposed a new sandbar off Crocodile Rocks, this is an example of the dynamic nature of sandbar movement and formation  within the Johnstone River.

Three young, black pigs are causing damage in the nursery. They have eaten the heart out of potted pandanus plants. See photo. They are very timid and look about 12 months old.

They are also eating the figs and leave little for the cassowaries.

Dad 1 and his two chicks are still begging for food house to house at Coquette Point. They walk the road and stop at houses and wait were they know food will be provided.
Letter to editor re rainforest burning

This amazing weather will not last long, the mosquitoes are flying tonight and that is a sure sign that rain is on the way: just in time to stop the fires that will inventible  start up when the cyclone debris dries out.

Great letter from Ian McCallan of Cardwell in the Tully Times this week re QPWS burning rainforest.

Cheers and love
Yvonne C.
