You can help protect our special environment and the cassowary by writing to those who are determining our future.
Some points to consider
Some points to consider
- Protect our National Parks and wilderness areas
- Recognise the cassowary for its rightful place of importance to the community, environment and economy
- Prioritise protection of our iconic cassowary and mahogany glider in all planning
- Implement traffic management solutions to help cassowaries cross roads
- Complete the mapping of local cassowary corridors at Mission Beach
- Condition developments appropriately to address the impact on cassowaries
- Local council stick to the Planning Scheme, listen to the community and consult with local conservationists when developing plans, policies and strategies that will impact on the character and exceptionally high natural and cultural values of the Cassowary Coast
- Promote Mission Beach as an Eco Tourism, low impact destination, not thrill seeking, high impact mass tourism
- Listen to the strong consistent message the community has been sending over decades of consultation.
- Listen to the feedback from regional, national and international visitors who want to see Mission Beach retain the character of low rise, relaxed atmosphere of villages in the rainforest by the sea and the best place to see a cassowary in the wild
