Southern Bobook Owl variety NEQ Race Lurida.
When driving up Mt Lewis Road - a raptor was spotted sitting in the middle of the road up - ahead. It flew off and landed in grass/rubbish on one side of the road, and then flew off carrying something. The raptor flew off at a 45 degree angle, landed on the other side of the road, dropped the captive and flew off. Joan walked up to see what had been dropped. They believe confidently it was a grey goshawk.

As Joan told me.....The Goshawk's potential meal lay there in the grass, feet in the air and the huge eyes looking up at her. They wrapped owl in a towel and positioned in back seat of their vehicle. When the vehicle next stopped further along the road - the Owl flew off. It had not visually appeared to be hurt, did not appear frantic or frightened when they wrapped it in towel......it mainly seemed (to them) as if it was still sleepy. How is that for excitement....!!?? Regards Fay
